There exists power for true liberty. Liberty here simply means freedom. And notice the preceding word “true”. That means false liberty exists.

In Acts 1:8, Jesus told the disciples

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

And in John 3:5-8 Jesus says:

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

As Believers, we can’t afford powerlessness because we deal with a God who operates in power; an Omnipotent God, whose power can’t be limited. Psalm 62:11 says “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.” If we embrace powerlessness we risk damnation. So says Romans 13:2 “Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.” Besides, if Jesus needed power (Acts 10:38), and He thought it was a necessity for His disciples too (Luke 24:49) why would any Believer think otherwise. Truth be told: A powerless life is a dangerous life!

Consider more reasons you need power:

• we live in a kingdom of power
• to destroy wicked enemies (Hebrew 2:14; Isaiah 54:17)
• to bring transformation to my life and to stop evil tendencies (Mathew 15 13; Colossians 2:14)
• to become all I should be in Christ (1 Corinthians 2:9-10; 2 Corinthians 5:20
• to become like the wind ( Romans 1:20; John 3:8)

You may wonder why we need to be like the wind. It’s because the wind exemplifies true freedom. It is air in constant motion. And it blows wherever and whenever it desires (Ecclesiastes 1:6). It’s unpredictable; and it bows to no one. The wind also rustles, so it is heard. Besides, the wind is weightless. Picture yourself in this mode: unrestricted; free to move wherever and whenever; having a voice and being unpredictable; bowing to no one and being weightless. That makes you limitless and grants ability for true freedom.

May God release unto you power to live in true liberty in the name of Jesus Christ.
