Every July, the family takes center stage at the Strong Tower Parish. The most important unit of the church community is celebrated through prayers, teachings, fun, togetherness and healthy competition.
The church has four demographic groups: the children, the singles and yet-to-marry, the women and men, and in this order, each group headlines a week and tries to impress the other as best as possible. Typically, the church choir rests, and each group choir leads worship all month long. Plays, special songs, dances, solo performances are other characteristics of a themed week.
The picnic is another important element. Food-lots of it, evangelism, sports competition and novelties among members of Blue, Green, Red and Yellow Houses make the event tick. Be ready to see people at their competitive best!
The Special Family Weekend concludes the month-long fiesta. The three-day teaching and prayer ministration starts the last Friday and ends with a Thanksgiving service on Sunday. Usually a guest minister preaches.
The Family Month Celebration was started in July 2001 when God instructed Pastor Olowokere to set aside the month annually for the celebration of families, to keep Satan’s onslaught on the unit at bay.
