What to Expect at HEBRON

Building number 697 along 13th Avenue in the famed northeast Minneapolis is the newly acquired HEBRON complex. Browse photos of the building. The turn-of-the century 30,000+ sq. feet edifice offers a bigger sanctuary than the current one, and provides ample room for Strong Tower Parish’s community programs – “the Hebron Family Value Initiative” – designed to meet a variety of needs in the community. What are these programs?

The Lord’s Kitchen
The flagship program of the Hebron Family Value Initiative is The Lord’s Kitchen – a program that provides hot meals to the homeless and less privileged families every week. At its inception in 2004, the Lord’s Kitchen was an outreach to the homeless. As a result of economical challenges low income families attend the Lord’s Kitchen. The Lord’s Kitchen currently serves an average of 300 meals a month. In addition to feeding, The Lord’s Kitchen will house a food shelf with staples, fresh fruits and vegetables, and personal hygiene items.

Preschool and Daycare Center
Providing affordable preschool services and day care for working parents is a huge step in addressing the needs of working low income families. This program will cater for children six weeks to four years of age. Christian women and men who are educated in early child development will teach the children based on exceptional pre-primary educational curriculum infused with Christian values. The children enrolled in this program will be made ready for their entry into Kindergarten grade, with the potential to thrive in the American education system.

After School Program
Our commitment to children in the community is not limited to the pre-kindergarten age. After school programs for children in North East Minneapolis will be provided at Hebron’s Education Center. Elementary students will have access to adults who will help them with their home work. Activities available when school work is completed are dance, art classes, and music lessons. In addition, college students will be available to assist high school teens, including those at risk, with homework assignments, serve as mentors, and help prepare them for college.

Inmates & Family Program
Societal experience suggests that children of inmates are at risk of becoming the next generation of inmates. Intervention and attention to issues unique to this group of children helps steer them to future success. The Hebron Family Value Initiative, through a program that ministers to the incarcerated and their families, will aim at facilitating a successful return to society for the offender, the reunion of the family, and support throughout the transition by providing the tools needed to lead successful lives.

Other Programs
Other programs that complete the Hebron Family Value Initiative are parenting classes, single mother support groups, employment preparedness, and professional development training. Summer programs for children will include Sports Camp, Community Missions, Bible Camps and Field Trips.
