Sermon Synopsis
In the first three parts, we’ve discussed seven salient points on God’s service. Today, we’ll look at two more.

But first, it must be reiterated that man was primarily created to be of service to God. When we fail to serve, we risk being returned or recalled just like a dysfunctional appliance or equipment. Adam is a good example. He was returned to dust once he failed in service.

Our Kingdom assignment is what keeps us here. Once done, our time on earth is up. To keep living then, we must keep serving our Father. Let’s consider how the lives of Simeon and Daniel underscore this point. In Luke 2:25-29 we see Simeon acknowledge his end once his assignment was concluded:

And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, 29Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

And in Daniel 6: 18-25, Daniel, even though he was thrown in a lion’s den, was not hurt or killed. Reason? His assignment or service was yet to be completed. Never forget that your Kingdom assignment is what keeps you here!

Now to the points:

Eight, my commitment to service will determine God’s commitment to my honor. That is, if I don’t serve God, I’m deprived of honor. John 12:23-26 says:

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

Nine, my commitment to God’s service guarantees the possession of my inheritance. Absent service, my inheritance is in jeopardy. Colossians 3:22-25 reveals:

Servants obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye service, as men pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

And Revelation 22:10-12 cautions:

And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

God bless you and grant you grace to always serve Him. Have a wonderful week.
