Sermon Synopsis
It’s important we understand the prophecy for the month so that we can be beneficiaries of its blessings. Toward this end, last week, we saw what “Honor” meant, and some types of honor as we to built understanding for ”My Month of Double Honor”.
Today, we will look at 3 more dimensions of honor, and close with “how to connect with double honor”.
Honor of the saints.
This honor is for every Christian. It’s the authority God confers on His children in order to rule the Kingdom of darkness. Psalm 149:6-9:
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;
To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.
Mark 16: 16 -18 also say about this honor:
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Congregational Honor.
The honor bestowed on a (select) group. For being a member of Strong Tower Parish, for instance, you naturally have the honor the church enjoys. Psalm26:8-9 say “LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth. Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:” Deuteronomy 26:18-19 say about a group:
And the LORD hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments; And to make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken.
Honor of Destiny.
This happens when God imparts your destiny with His Honor. It takes you from nothing to something; nobody to somebody. It is tied to your faith and not any title 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 tell of Jabez:
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
How to connect with Double Honor.
You need to now that our God wants us to be everything He is. For instance in Leviticus 11:44 He enjoins us to be holy because He is. How will you connect with Double Honor? The secret is for you to first honor God. It’s to make God the Ultimate not the alternate. 1 Samuel 2:30 reveals:
Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed
Psalm 66: 1-2 show how to honor God. It says “Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.” Psalm 71:5-8 and Psalm 104:1 equally show how.
Brethren, we know what God has promised us in May and we have seen some of its dimensions. And we have come to see that the secret to our Double Honor is to first honor God.
