Sermon Synopsis
In the first and second parts of this study we looked at five salient points on service to God. Today we’ll look at two more after a brief rehash of the five.
First, it was established that the major reason man was created was to serve God. Man was not created merely to serve any personal ends and aspirations.
Second, we looked at the place of choice in service. Specifically, we said that it is by choice that we serve anyone we worship, and that our worship is incomplete until we begin to serve God (Matthew 4: 8-10).
Third, we said that “I am delivered because of service” and we looked at the case of the deliverance of the Israelites from servitude in Egypt (Exodus 4:20-23).
Fourth, we saw that God does not deal kindly with anything or anyone that stops His people from serving Him (Exodus 9:1-3 & Exodus 8:1-3).
Fifth, using Daniel as case study (Daniel 6:16-28) we established an association between deliverance and service.
We next look at the sixth and seventh points.
Sixth, whenever I serve God, He doesn’t just provide for me, He becomes my provision. The truth is your job can’t be your provision regardless of your total take home. Otherwise those in the topmost income bracket shouldn’t have to break a sweat about anything else. Neither can anything else you have. The only One who can be your provision is God. King David recognized this well when he said in Psalm 23 “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want.” He then goes on to underscore that point the rest of that Psalm.
Seventh, serving God guarantees good health.
Exodus 23:25 says
“And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.”
Good health is not age-tied otherwise every member of an age category should have good health. That’s why even death is not selective: the young die, and so do the old. It’s only God who can guarantee good health!
