Sermon Synopsis
Some have found it inconceivable that they’d be prosperous given their present lack or shortage but the Scripture instructs us to the contrary.
Regardless of what we see, feel or know, what God tells us is what counts. If He tells me I will have abundance by tonight and I’m presently on empty, I have to receive and embrace abundance otherwise I lose out. The reason for that is simple: whatever you haven’t received CANNOT be delivered to you as 2 kings 7 shows. 1 Cor 11:23a puts it beautifully “For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you,”
I don’t care how broke you are now, I want you to exclaim “Others may suffer, but I will prosper!”
We established last week that “Covenant” was another secret to accessing prosperity. And we understood that through God’s covenant with Abraham, you and I through Christ can become beneficiaries of covenant prosperity as Isaac, Jacob and Joseph did before us (Gal 3:29).
You may think, “Abraham’s Covenant? That’s too out there” Wait until I point you to a present day covenant you and I are benefitting from. The Redeemed Christian Church of God is the fastest growing ministry today, that’s no accident. It’s a consequence of a covenant God made with Pa. Akindayomi who started this ministry.
God told him that our ministry will be in every part of the world and today you and I are here in the U.S. as part of a mission that started in some backwater in Nigeria! Need any further proof of covenant as a secret to prosperity?
Friends God is not a liar as Num 23:19 makes us understand, reason He has lifted His word above His name. You therefore need to stand convicted that your covenant with prosperity is sure-fire, because it’s His word which is more important to Him than His name. You have Ps. 89:27-34 as proof that God is no covenant breaker.
One thing is constant with every one who has prospered by covenant: Obedience. Obedience therefore becomes your personal responsibility in order to access covenant prosperity. Is 1:18-19 discloses “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” I read this passage to mean, “While covenant provides good in my land obedience ensures I eat of that good.”
The road to covenant prosperity is paved in obedience, only the obedient walk the road. Abraham didn’t flinch when God asked him to sacrifice his son, and Isaac stayed in Gerar when God instructed. You and I can’t do differently if we’re to be beneficiaries of covenant prosperity. You should expect not to reap the reward of whatever instruction you haven’t obeyed.
What has God instructed you? Your tithe? Holiness? Are you in obedience?
May God grant you the grace to obey any and every instruction in the name of Jesus.
Have a blessed week.
